Marc Jacobs Dr Q Colorblock Groovee

Marc Jacobs Dr Q Colorblock Groovee

You gotta love a bag named “Groovee,” and this Dr. Q Colorblock Groovee by Marc Jacobs has a lot more to love than just its name. Available in two color schemes (wine multi and midnight multi) it’s made of casually flashy crinkled patent leather with a flat bottom (including protective metal feet of course), gold metal hardware, a removable shoulder strap, a zip top with an extra long pull tab (yay for less fumbling!), 3 pockets on the inside, and a multi-colored textile lining. $498

Posh Turnlock Convertible Tote from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Posh Turnlock Convertible Tote

As lovely as this little purse is, we will be the first to admit that the main reason we are featuring it today is because it has the word “posh” in it’s name.

The full name is the Posh Turnlock Convertible Tote, from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

It’s a tote/clutch hybrid, made of soft, crinkly Italian leather with a twist-lock closure and gold hardware.

A great purse for everyday wear and tear!

When Good Bags Go Wrong!

Marc Jacobs Meshlace Bag

Who was it that said “less is more,” or to rephrase, that “more is just more?” Whomever it was, word does not seem to have reached the bag design team at Marc Jacobs and now Chloe. While Marc seemingly did the impossible and created something truly garish in his ‘bag on a bag’ um, bag, Chloe just tossed a lot of flap/buckle clasps onto this clutch.

Chloe Clutch

Furthermore, while Marc could at least make the excuse that his bag’s appendages are at least functional for organisational purposes, I’m not quite sure what the extra Chloe clasps accomplish. They aren’t going to keep out a diligent pickpocket; they’re not even placed to do so.

I would have loved to see this Chloe clutch done totally in the fuschia (as we all know brights are in!) with just one centered leather buckle, or the body of the bag could have been kept white with the folded over bit done in this bubbly pink. But as it is, this clutch looks like it is covered in buckle growths. Ick.

Also, is it just me or are the leather buckles oddly reminiscent of a toned down B. Fendi buckle …

Travel in Style: Marc Jacobs Patent Wheely

Marc Jacobs Patent Wheely

I’ve been travelling quite a bit in recent months and have a few trips planned for this summer too. I understand that luggage is meant to be functional and is quick to get dirtied and scuffed, but I can’t help but wish I had a more stylish and unique suitcase – instead of the standard black Samsonite I’ve been lugging around.

There would be no mistaking my bag with this Marc by Marc Jacobs red patent leather wheely. With gold hardware, red padded handles, signature label patch on the front, this suitcase is more flashy than functional, but why not have a little bit more fun when it comes to vacations and traveling?

At least I’d have something pretty to look at while waiting in those dreadfully long security lines…$698 available on shopbop.com.

Marc Jacobs Day Fluo Venetia

 Marc Jacobs Day Fluo Venetia

Marc Jacobs fiends should click over to eLuxury stat, because the sale section is just bursting with everything MJ.

What caught my eye, though, wasn’t so much a marked down price tag, but a fluorescent version of the designer’s classic Venetia handbag. One of my all-time favorites, it’s admittedly like carrying around a dumbbell. Despite its heft, it’s gorgeous, timeless, roomy—all essential details.

So it was with dismay that I laid eyes on this Day Fluo Venetia ($1395). There’s nothing like a coat of acid yellow to brighten up a dull day, but here the bag’s luxurious feel is compromised by the blinding hue.

It’s not that I don’t love Venetia in bright, enigmatic shades—I carry around my geranium colored version all the time. But this doesn’t seem a worthwhile investment.

Perhaps it was inspired by MJ’s love of SpongeBob Squarepants?
