Gucci Joy Boston Bag

Gucci Joy Boston Bag

It’s crazy how full of personality and charm the newest Gucci purses are. I love this medium-sized Joy Boston Bag. It’s truly one of the most eyecatching Gucci creations I’ve laid eyes on, thanks to the black and white floral embroidery, black button details and gold and silver hardware. It sounds a little bizarre, but somehow this mishmash of elements works. It instantly perks up a suit and it’s a bit of a conversation piece, too.

With the new Gucci store opening at the Trump building, they decided to commemorate their new pad with a limited edition bag — which you can purchase or win. The proceeds from the bag benefit Playground Partners of the Central Park Conservancy which will help maintain and operate the twenty-one playgrounds in Central Park. Stylish new bag with local flair and special park care — sounds fantastic!

Gucci Crystal Evening Bag, Handbag of the Day

Posted Nov 21st 2007 5:02PM by Sandy Maple

Gucci calls these ‘crystal’ evening bags, but there are no crystals to be seen. Who needs crystals with all this sleek style? The slim clutches are available in mirror gold, black or red carpet and feature light gold or silver-tone horse-bit buckle details. With a magnetic snap closure and engraved Gucci script logo, the bags measure a dainty 3 ½”H x 8 ½ “W x ¾4″D and sell for $495.

Gucci Strike Large Tote

I’m not much of a Gucci gal, I’ll admit. The interlocking G’s do nothing for my heart rate, and where some see elegance, I feel boredom… Most of the time. I own 3 Gucci bags, and the above Gucci Strike Large Tote might have been the fourth, if not for the price tag. I like the classic lines of this purse, the very clean styling. I even like the gunmetal leather trim and adore the bamboo handles. The subtly-striped raffia would be fab for a Hamptons-esque escape. But at $1,950, I think I’ll pass. If it makes your heart pitter-patter, pick it up at Saks.

Gucci Snow Glam Medium Purse

I like the curved shape of this Gucci Snow Glam Medium Purse, and I like the patent leather. What I don’t like, however, is the red, black, and white color combination, which makes me think of a) my highschool colors, and b) a race car. If they’d simply stuck on one - or perhaps even two - colors I’d be first in line to pick up a hip hobo like this. As it is, it looks a little too sporty for its high-fashion caliber. $1,895 at Bergdorfgoodman.com

Gucci Romy Patent Boston Bag, Handbag of the Day

Posted Sep 27th 2007 5:04PM by Sandy Maple

Shiny black patent leather is accented with slick silver details and wrapped up beautifully with a wide buckled belt. And those handles with their super-sized hinged hardware really stand out. More silver-tone hardware adorns each side of the bag in the form of logo-engraved plates. The top zips both ways with patent leather pulls and the interior is softened up with a purple floral print. $2792.

Chloe Bay Shoulder Bag

While some parts of the world dress up more than the folk in the USA, I find the casual wear perfectly fitting for my lifestyle. Chasing a 3 year old around means I need to be able to move quick and not worry about any dirt, food, spit, etc stain. So many think that we as Americans are sloppy, but I prefer to label us business attire challenged. I keep throwing on jeans, a tee, and sandals, and my dressy bags need to stay home. I have been sporting my Gucci Horsebit Hobo, but really want a bag that has a long shoulder strap so I can wear it across my body. Funky yet fresh, the Chloe Bay Shoulder Bag is also a perfect laid-back contender. Sporting a creamy camel color with gold hardware and an adjustable shoulder strap, this Chloe Bay is a perfect version for a woman on the go. Chunky oversized zippers, a large front zip fastening pocket, and beige canvas lining, finish off this hip member of the Bay family. I really dig it. Via NAP for $1600.

Gucci Race Medium Top Handle Handbag

Racy and modern is the theme behind the Gucci Spring/Summer handbag line. A plethora of silver metallic can be found on many of the Gucci bags. The Gucci Race Medium Top Handle Handbag features metal plate details but is not immersed in silver. I am completely neutral about the bag, but am totally loathing the tassel details on either side. Tassels belong at the bottom of curtains and on many bags just look annoying. Black suede is the basis of the bag, which if offset by purple and red piping and metal plate detailing. Is it s a good thing or a bad thing that I am really just indifferent? Don’t love it, don’t hate it, just makes me say Ehhhh. Measurements are 9 2/5″H x 20 1/2″W x 6 1/3″D. Pre-order through Bergdorf Goodman for $2250.

Gucci Dog Backpack

My dearest Gucci,

As the owner of a dog I must say that your little contraption, the Gucci Dog Backpack, is not only pointless but plain stupid. Last time I checked my dog has no accessories to carry around with him, rolls in dirt, slobbers, uses his tongue as a washcloth, and eats other dogs ‘excretions’ if you will. Why on Earth does he need a backpack? Let me think it through.

Option 1) to carry treats around you may argue. Well really? My dog will eat anything, I mean anything. Give him metal, he will eat it, glasses, excretions, asparagus, and his own vomit. So seeing that dogs have a very strong sense of smell, placing a backpack on him that carries threats would inevitably have him contort his body, roll around non stop, bite, bark, and squeal until he got that bag near his mouth. He would then proceed to eat the classic GG nylon fabric, brown leather trim, and side-zip pockets until he found the treat.

Option 2) To carry his own accessories in it. Ok I did not buy one of those cute huskies from 8 Below. My dog lies in the sun and walks around the neighborhood. Is there anything so important that he will need that for? I will go out on a limb here, but I bet my dog is like most others- he is not a working dog, he is a pet.

Option 3) To make him the trendiest dog on the block. Erhmm, does he even see color? Does he need to know that there is red and green webbing on his backpack that so perfectly rests on only one side of his body? Afraid not.

For $410 (via Gucci) I think I will pass because all of the options above for why this dog backpack was even needed to be made have failed to ring a bell in my mind.

Sincerely Yours,

Purse Blog

P.S. If you really think this is the best invention ever, can you at least make it to fit larger sized dogs? I would hate for Nitro to think you have excluded him.
