The perfect addition to your summer/spring handbag collection has arrived! Who was it that said “less is more,” or to rephrase, that “more is just more?” Whomever it was, word does not seem to have reached the bag design team at Marc Jacobs and now Chloe. While Marc seemingly did the impossible and created something truly garish in his ‘bag on a bag’ um, bag, Chloe just tossed a lot of flap/buckle clasps onto this clutch.

Furthermore, while Marc could at least make the excuse that his bag’s appendages are at least functional for organisational purposes, I’m not quite sure what the extra Chloe clasps accomplish. They aren’t going to keep out a diligent pickpocket; they’re not even placed to do so.

I would have loved to see this Chloe clutch done totally in the fuschia (as we all know brights are in!) with just one centered leather buckle, or the body of the bag could have been kept white with the folded over bit done in this bubbly pink. But as it is, this clutch looks like it is covered in buckle growths. Ick.

Also, is it just me or are the leather buckles oddly reminiscent of a toned down B. Fendi buckle …

Less polished, more slick, but still chic no matter what - that’s the beauty of this Chloe Audra Zipped Purse. It takes a minute to digest the odd splashes of color on this one, but somehow it seems to work even if tan leather studs, red-trimmed zippers, brass hardware and black patent leather seem an unlikely team. Audra is soft and relaxed, less structured than the basic work tote but still just as pulled together and appropriate for a day at the office or a sick day at the mall. The exterior pockets are a great addition: They keep the necessities within easy reach. Available for $1800 at Diabro.

A wide strip of logo-emblazoned metallic blue calf leather adds a bit of pizazz to an otherwise standard looking canvas bag. More shimmery blue leather trims the large exterior zippered pocket and the thick leather straps. Inside, you’ll find several more zippered pockets and black lining. It’s a pretty bag, but that taupe colored tassel looks out of place. $789.

It’s not as if you normally need an excuse to carry a Chloe bag. You’d stock your entire closet with them if you could. But there are certain styles that are more brow-raising than heart-racing, and this blah Debbie Hobo is a great example. Downright dull, from its typical shape to its unimpressive details, this purse wouldn’t pass for a Chloe if it weren’t for the giveaway pull tabs. Yet another ho-hum, neutral hobo? No, thanks. The Paddington craze created chaos among those searching for one and the lucky who nabbed one feeling a bit of shoulder pressure. The craze is still there, the supply is just much higher. I myself have two Paddington’s; one satchel and one tote. Chloe proves they are a receptive brand, taking in criticism and using it constructively. Love the lock but hate the weight of it? The new Chloe Small Paddington totes the typical studs and durable leather but adds a small lock to make our tendonitis minimize. The small lock is tiny but still signifies that this is still indeed a Chloe Paddington. Gold and silver metallic are still perfect for this summer, especially when adding a hint of glimmer and not an overwhelming cheap looking metallic.
