Be & D Crawford Hobo Bag: Fab or Drab?

I am a fan of black and white, but sometimes the colors can be overpowering when put together on one surface. Is this the case on the Be & D Crawford Hobo Bag? This handbag sports black and white zigzag pattern on the already known Crawford Hobo shape along with a leather shoulder strap. Paired with brass hardware and rivets along the strap, this handbag has a funky flair. Not much else to this large hobo other than suede lining and a press stud closure. Via Net A Porter for $1545. What do you all think?

Derek Lam Hildegard Hobo Handbag

Not only do I love Derek Lam clothing, but Derek Lam handbags are making quite a splash in the world of accessories. Personally, I am developing a crush on the Derek Lam Hildegard Hobo Handbag. Love the removable shoulder strap, love the supple white leather, love the pleats, and love the Aires ring on the front. Can you dig it? The price is not as amazing, but if you want a white bag and have a bit of extra cash, why not splurge a bit. Via Luisa via Roma for approx $2026.

Isabella Fiore Folktale Fantasy Trina Large Hobo Bag

The lovely folks at Fab Sugar posted about a Fiore bag that I also can’t decide Yay or Nay for. My gut feeling is Nay unless you are part of generation y, aka younger crowd, and this funky pattern works for you. Fab Sugar describes the Isabella Fiore Folktale Fantasy Trina Large Hobo Bag perfectly as a “soccer ball with a folksy, colorful pattern that calls to mind some bucolic Scandinavian village.” Nail on the head, right? Time after time I find myself saying that a bag could work ok with jeans and a teeshirt. I am going to say that for this bag, because for some odd reason I can’t say that I hate it, but for many reasons I am no where near professing my love for it. Buy it via Nordstrom’s for $625.

Brooke Burke Isabella Fiore Shirr Honor Carina Large Hobo

Even sexy people have their not so sexy moments. Brooke Burke has graced the cover of many magazines nearly nude but sometimes she wants to be like the rest of us; you know, stick out her tongue at her daughter. This picture cracks me up but the other part of the picture I zoomed in on was the bag. Brooke Burke’s Isabella Fiore Shirr Honor Carina Large Hobo was placed on the dirty table surrounded by food. Food stains cream bags! This Fiore Hobo is made with shirred creame leather to give it that unique texture look. The bag is now marked down via Adasa for $625.

Rafe Jessica Knotted Hobo

I always wonder what it takes to have an accessory named after you. I need the specifics. Could I buy my way in, do I need to sing, should I dress like a hobo, should I be able to play the piano with my toes? In my perfect life, I would have an exquisite handbag named after me; one that exemplifies who I am as a person. I don’t see that happening any time soon, so I will chose to write about others who have had that happen for themselves. I am not sure if there is a specific Jessica in mind, but the Rafe Jessica Knotted Hobo should make all the ladies with the name Jessica smile. While having a bag named after you is wonderful, I would want my name associated with a bag that has a bit more going on than this Rafe number. This bag is made from brown Italian washed leather and features a knot on the shoulder strap. The antique brass hardware doubles with cowhide woven pull-tabs and seams. From the picture the size of the bag seems normal, but it is very large- 14″H x 24″W x3″D. I’m not saying Jessica is a boring name, but Rafe did not make this bag anything special in my opinion here. The bag is cute but plain. Maybe Jane would have been a better name to pair with it. Via Neiman Marcus for $575.

Isabella Fiore Large Leather Hobo

Many of you know well that Isabella Fiore is not one of my favorite designers. Her designs are very hit or miss with me, and I have seemed to have many more misses than hits. But the already known shape of this hobo, and the intricate but simple leather design has me oohing and aahing. The Isabella Fiore Large Leather Hobo is coined the “chain reaction” style with its supple leather body and embossed checkered pattern skin. The bag looks completely slouchy and perfectly fitting for my likes. There is woven chain trim and golden hardware. The shoulder strap has rings and the slouchy body finishes off with an open top. I must give Isabella a thumbs up for this one: she hit the nail on the head. Available in camel, black, or white via Bergdorf Goodman for a reasonable $675.

Kooba Carla Handbag

Happy Monday everyone! Waking up to this scorching day has been anything but fun. I was contemplating taking a cab rather than the Subway because I thought I might have a heat stroke down there - but at 8:30am, it was ok. This afternoon will be a different story, with temperatures reaching into the 100s!! For a hot day like today, you need to pull off a cool look. This model has it all right. Sporting Ella Moss Madison shorts (which I have, yay!), a Hanky Panky Signature Lace Lined Cami, and topping it off with a white Kooba Carla Bag, this look goes down in my book as perfect for a dauntingly hot summer day. The Kooba Carla has never made it on the top of my favorite list, but recently I have seen it around and it has grown on me quite a bit. This white leather handbag shows off braided banding and metal eyelet detail on the top along with a knot and tassel detail on the front. Connecting the bag with the braided handle are large metal buckles. Finishing off the bag is a magnetic snap closure and two interior pockets. Buy this bag via Shop Bop for a sale price of $325 (also you can find the rest of the look there).

Miu Miu Quilted Linen Hobo

When you have a hit, keep riding the wave. Miu Miu hit big time with the highly coveted Coffer and for Spring/Summer 2007 Miu Miu has released the fraternal twin. Ohh and ahh at the Miu Miu Quilted Linen Hobo like I am doing. A perfect tint of metallic gold is splashed on the braided top handle, detachable body strap, and other slight trimming. I said it with the Coffer and I’ll say it with the Linen rendition, this is a sure to be hit and one of the most amazing and fun designs out there. The ruched linen body has a top flap, gold hardware, and front pockets. I can not stop drooling over this perfect sized hobo, 12″H X 15″L X 2”W. Get your hands on one at Saks for $1155.
