From Maxwell Scott’s 2007 Contemporary Collection, the Claudia is designed to be beautiful and durable. All buckled up with antique brass hardware, it would make a great work bag and has a colorful surprise inside - electric blue lining. Made from supple Italian leather, it has comfy double handles and features one zip pocket in the large main compartment. This is classic tan, but it’s also available in dark chocolate and night black. £249.99.

Elliott Lucca Siren Satchel, Handbag of the Day

I don’t know that ’siren’ accurately describes this bag, but I like it anyway. Glossy Italian leather with a crinkly finish, the tasseled bag looks sporty and casual. This side view doesn’t accurately depict how large the bag really is - with a 3.5″ flat bottom sporting protective feet, it’s a big 12″ inches wide by 7.5″ high. With thick braided straps and gunmetal hardware, the bag is lined with graphite colored lining and features three interior pockets.$258.

Inge Christopher Beaded Wallpaper Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Relatively affordable and beautifully retro, this beaded clutch looks like something my mother might have tucked away in a drawer somewhere. The classic frame clutch is covered in peacock blue satin and adorned with delicate beading in a vintage wallpaper pattern. A hidden wrist chain makes the bag comfortable to carry and the push-lock closure opens to reveal a dark satin lining and a gusseted pocket. Also available in a deep eggplant. $120.

Betsey Johnson ‘Betsey Be Bad’ Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Betsey be very, very good with this satchel. The soft burgundy leather is just barely pleated and the perforated corner details really make things pop. I love the contrast and the minimal use of brass-tone hardware on the handle, strap and studded accents. The 5 inch drop handles are kind of short, but attach the 16 inch shoulder strap and you can be hands-free. Inside are two open pockets and a printed faux-quilt logo lining. $325.

Longchamp Lgende, Handbag of the Day

Inspired by an old-fashioned doctor’s bag, the Légende handbag is anything but dated. With clean lines in a suede-style calfskin leather, the bag sports an extra large, double-zippered top and two stacked side pockets. The warm color is perfect for fall - a rusty red they call Amour. The bag measures 14½ x 10¼ x 5½ inches and is also available in black. $1085.

Gryson Tutu Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Former MJ bag designer Joy Gryson’s Tutu satchel is a vision in red. Actually, the color is cerise and it’s a glowing example of distressed done right. Made from Italian calfskin leather, the bag is accented with distressed leather on the handles, adjustable shoulder strap and trim. The hardware is a pale gold and the interior features suede lining and both zip and slide pockets. $1295.

Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Eugnie Wallet

Besides the classic and always in fashion LV Monogram Line (the original of course!) the Epi Leather Line also exudes the timeless class and sophistication that LV is known for around the world. I remember when I first came across the Epi Leather line I instantly fell in love. Although simple in design with no frills or fanfare, it is sleek, clean and sophisticated. And for such an expensive and luxurious line, it helps that it will never go out of style, allowing you to wear it for years on end. The Eugénie Wallet will keep you extremely organized as it features an exuberant amount of credit card slots, a slot to keep your cash crisp and fresh (because no one wants wrinkled money right?) and an exterior zippered coin slot. Dimensions: 7.5″ x 4.2″ x .5″. Also available in black. Price $715.

Lanvin Jeanne Pouchette, Handbag of the Day

This is a sharp looking leather bag with lots of nice silver-tone detail. Why did they have to go and ruin it with that cotton web strap? I like the contrast, but black leather would have been a better choice, I think. Looking past the adjustable strap, the little pouchette is pretty with the details and at 10″x6.5″x3.5″, it is a nice compact size. The bag is also available in black and dark khaki, presumably with the same icky strap. $1065.

Darjeeling Limited Louis Vuitton Luggage

One of the stars of the new Wes Anderson movie doesn’t even have a speaking part. It’s the 11 pieces of distinctive Louis Vuitton luggage made specifically for the movie. The luggage was designed by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton and includes monogrammed steamer trunks, duffels, and suitcases covered in a jungle pattern created by Anderson’s brother, Eric. The luggage will be auctioned off with proceeds going to benefit UNICEF and the Rawal Mallinathji Foundation, a medical treatment charity in India. The luggage is on display at the Louis Vuitton store in New York and you can enter a silent bid for the pieces there.

Kim White Large Travel Bag, Handbag of the Day

Posted Sep 25th 2007 5:02PM by Sandy Maple

And now for something completely different. Kim White’s Brown and Cream Large Travel Bag is made from recycled automobile upholstery. This particular fabric came from a 1974 Plymouth Fury and features a subtlety colored pattern that looks a bit like vintage wallpaper. Trimmed in brown leather and accented with gold, it has a large zipper top and two interior pockets. As you might expect from recycled car seats, some of her bags are a bit garish. But I think this one looks soft and feminine. $380.
