Less polished, more slick, but still chic no matter what – that’s the beauty of this Chloe Audra Zipped Purse. It takes a minute to digest the odd splashes of color on this one, but somehow it seems to work even if tan leather studs, red-trimmed zippers, brass hardware and black patent leather seem an unlikely team. Audra is soft and relaxed, less structured than the basic work tote but still just as pulled together and appropriate for a day at the office or a sick day at the mall. The exterior pockets are a great addition: They keep the necessities within easy reach. Available for $1800 at Diabro.

Shiny black patent leather is accented with slick silver details and wrapped up beautifully with a wide buckled belt. And those handles with their super-sized hinged hardware really stand out. More silver-tone hardware adorns each side of the bag in the form of logo-engraved plates. The top zips both ways with patent leather pulls and the interior is softened up with a purple floral print. $2792.

It’s been a while since I checked out the Prada tricks and they have definitely evolved. Last time I looked at the popular baubles which clip on to purses and cell phones they were rudimentary leather pieces. Now the latest lines include miniature teddy bears (which remind me of the little animals we used to clip on our tote bags back in the 1980s) and the Travel tricks which are reproductions of magnets for the dashboards of gentlemen’s cars from the Prada archives. The Prada tricks are priced between $130 and $225.

And now for something completely different. Kim White’s Brown and Cream Large Travel Bag is made from recycled automobile upholstery. This particular fabric came from a 1974 Plymouth Fury and features a subtlety colored pattern that looks a bit like vintage wallpaper. Trimmed in brown leather and accented with gold, it has a large zipper top and two interior pockets. As you might expect from recycled car seats, some of her bags are a bit garish. But I think this one looks soft and feminine. $380.
