Louis Vuitton Monogram Dentelle Batignolles Horizontal, Handbag of the Day

The latest limited edition from Louis Vuitton is the Dentelle. Like the Cerise and the Groom it takes the standard monogram canvas look and expands upon it. This bag has a web of delicate lurex embroidery in white and gold using a pattern of real lace. The bag shown here is the Monogram Dentelle Batignolles Horizontal and sells for $1,720 at eLuxury. Comments around the blogosphere on the Dentelle line have been mixed. Some say oooh lingerie for your purse how dainty and feminine, others say yuck, it looks moldy. Me, I’ll pass, but then again, I’m not a Louis lover.

Isabelle Fiore Peacock Clutch, Handbag of the Day

I’m a sucker for a peacock bag, what better emblem of the brilliantly showy than nature’s own glamour bird. This latest clutch from Isabella Fiore has vivid peacock embroidery on black patent leather for added gleam. It has a cotton lining and the inside has one zip and two open pockets. It’s not as incredible as the Valentino peacock but at $325, it’s not quite as expensive either.

Antrobus Convertible Bag, Handbag of the Day

Handbags of late have been so uninspiring, but this design is clearly innovative and is sure to appeal to the masses. Most women have the same problem with bottomless-pit-style bags which seem to swallow-up everything which necessitates carrying a large bag in the first place, thereby rendering the style inefficient and clumsy. The designer of this bag however, Alison Antrobus, a RISD architecture graduate who was also frustrated by the hassle of searching through a disorganized tote, has come up with a unique solution to the changing needs of day by creating an adaptable handbag/drawer set/clutch for the stylish woman who needs her bag to be as brainy and beautiful as she is. The Antrobus bag retails online for $1,250 and begins as a geometric carryall in buttery black leather with brushed golden accents. From there, a two-drawer box emerges from the bottom permitting the top portion to be used alone as a smaller shoulder bag, and the bottom portion zips off into a folded clutch. She has managed to successfully synthesize utility with style; science with fashion, let’s just hope it doesn’t weigh a ton!

A light plaid just says summer, easy, classic and just a bit preppy. Call it the gin and tonic of fabrics. This clutch from Lauren Merkin is done in silk shantung in a peachy plaid shot through with cream and brown. It opens with a hexagonal frame and has a pink striped Lurex lining. Imagine this one tucked under your arm at a summer garden party, paired with a long white linen dress and arms full of gold or silver bangles. The bag sells for $165.

Cole Haan Vivian Hobo, Handbag of the Day

I’ve compared Cole Haan’s woven leather looks to Bottega Veneta before and this latest hobo from the Vivian collection has a similar appeal but the uses of different styles of weaving creates a more distinctive style. This bag come in chocolate or natural and uses woven multi-color leather for a more casual look. It has a handwoven tassel detail, covered hardware in antique brass and a woven shoulder strap. The interior is lined in linen and has an cell and PDA pockets. It sells for $450.
